Lucky Girl! [V Day]
Typically for Valentine's Day we go out for a nice [read: expensive] dinner. No cards, no gifts. Just a nice meal with the best company! It's not a huge deal to either of us. In fact, our first year dating [1 mo. into our relationship] Adam was paying off all his debt [read: no free cash!] and mailed me a really sweet card/letter for Valentine's Day. It was so special...probably my favorite Valentine...until last night that is!
This year we decided since we had a great weekend away just a day before, we would call that our Valentine's. Sounds good to me. Sunday night we decided that we [read: Adam] would make Steak & Crab Legs for dinner.
Imagine how shocked I was when I walked in the door and Adam told me to set my stuff down & be quiet. He then took my hand and walked me down the hall and through our bedroom [get your mind out of the gutter!] to our bathroom. He had drawn me a bath, complete with flickering candles and a bouquet of flowers! Oh and Godiva chocolate & White Merlot wine too! For the next hour I soaked in the bath and he made us steak & crab legs, really yummy mashed potatoes, broccoli & cauliflower, and garlic bread! :) I sort of expected the candlelit dinner from him, not so much the rest! It was wonderful! :):):)
No worries though...he's not perfect. He came home from the store and realized he forgot a card! :) I say perfect though, because that's the only thing I got it. I'm telling you people...together we make a whole...we're everything eachother is not! :)

♡
We received a large package from my mom & dad for Valentine's Day. It was filled with candy, cards, moola, kitchen towels [that read...'we woof you!'] and even treats for Murdock! :) I have the best parents!
We celebrated Valentine's Day. Instead of gifts we each chose something we wanted to do. It worked out perfect because Adam wanted to go to the casino for a while [which could be done during the day] and I wanted to go to my favorite restaurant for dinner. Adam lost his money [as he always does at the casino!] and I left $35 ahead [as I always do!]. We had a ton of fun & left -$15 for the day...not to shabby! *Although Iowa has many smoking restrictions since July of 2006 & I forgot what it was like to be somewhere that still allows smoking...HOLY COW! I lost like 13 years of my life while being there I think! After that, we headed back home to get ready for our 7pm dinner reservation at 801 Grand. It was FABULOUS!!! I just love this place but can only justify it once a year [our bill was $160--1 glass of wine each & no dessert!] I opted for no dessert [although it is fab as well!] We have a friend that is the head chef at the Marriott Downtown [where we were engaged] that makes a mean smores dessert. So we walked over there [1 block away] and enjoyed dessert & another glass of wine. IT WAS PERFECT! :) *I was super bummed I forgot to take a photo of us all dolled up! :(
*Over dinner we decided to start a 'date night' once a week. We came up with a ton of date ideas & decided we would draw for the next week's date at the end of the date before [that way we don't have to decide who plans the date]. I'm so excited...a date a week [once a month is a restaurant that neither of us have been to before!] We want to start a family next year & thought this was a perfect way to take advantage of our 'last year alone!' :)
SUNDAY [2.14.09]
Our friends A&P invited us over for a WONDERFUL Valentine's Day brunch & games. I forgot to take photos of the food but I got a couple other fun shots! :)
We headed home & did a few things around the house before ordering pizza in. Oh yes...they had a special 'heart shaped pizza' so I was like what the hey...would you call this a 'heart shaped pizza'?! I was a little disappointed! :)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend doing whatever it was that made your Valentine's Day special. This one was my favorite one ever...how perfect since it was our first Valentine's Day as husband & wife! :)

1. I am hoping my Valentine's day this year includes, some Romance since it's our 1st Valentine's as Husband & Wife .
2. My biggest guilty pleasure is this computer...my blog in-particular. It drives Adam crazy...he truly believes I cannot live without my computer. I use it for EVERYTHING !
3. I am most proud of my mom. I have thee best mom out there and I hope to God that I am half the woman she is someday. She raised 3 wonderful women and is a beautiful, kind, loving, caring, smart Mother [wife/sister/housekeeper/babysitter/aunt/baker...] .
4. If I could choose one outfit to live in it would be sweats & flipflops & my wedding ring .
5. People are all hurting for some reason, weather we know it or not, so remember that next time you want to get upset with someone or think they have the perfect life. Life on earth is not perfect for any person .
6. I would rather be healthy and happy than be rich... although i would like to be 'comfortable' .

Valentines Day Extravaganza...[Favorite Memory]
So I'm super bummed I didn't get this done last night. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed this weekend...laundry to do...clean dishes to put away...dirty dishes to clean...trash to take out...I know...everyone has it...I'm just feeling like there aren't enough hours in the day this week!
Nevertheless I had a couple wedding memories/photos I really wanted to share...so here they are!

My sister, Ashley, made this sign for us, brought it down to Jamaica, & had everyone sign it. When we returned back to our room for the night it was hanging on our door. I would have expected this if we had a traditional wedding but I was shocked that she did all of this in Jamaica. It was so sweet & thoughtful. We were excited! It was so fun to read all the comments from the 20 guests that traveled with us. Such a fun keepsake!

Thank you Mama M for this awesome blog train. Read mine then post your own and link it up to her MckLinky!
First off...I'll remind you all we had a destination wedding last October in Jamaica.
1st memory
Every morning Adam & I went to breakfast together however the morning of our wedding Adam went out scuba diving with some others from our group so we didn't have breakfast together. I didn't want to go by myself so I skipped breakfast. The day flew by & I was getting my hair done realizing that I hadn't had breakfast & it was hot out...I was now starving! So...Dad saves the day! He went to one of the restaurants & had them make me homemade mac & cheese w/ salmon & a couple of brick oven pizzas. It was amazing!
2nd memory
So...we were supposed to have our reception outside in the garden but it decided to start thunder storming...thankfully right after the wedding...and we had to move the party indoors. This was us stopping to take a quick shot before running to the restaurant. It was a really fun moment just the two of us before we went back to the party. This one is probably my favorite
3rd memory
How about you? What was your favorite wedding memory?

Valentines Day Extravaganza...[Pop the ?]
Thank you Mama M for this awesome blog train. Read mine then post your own and link it up to her MckLinky!
Here it is...short & sweet because I'm absolutely exhausted tonight!
One day while home during my lunch break I was watching the TV show 7th Heaven and called Adam to tell him about Lucy's proposal & how it was my dream to have it replicated. He was busy working & didn't really act like he was listening...it didn't really matter because we were 'just friends.' See Adam was my best friend for almost a year before I decided to 'give in' and date him.
April 2007 [meet Adam @ work]
January 2008 [give in & date Adam]
February 2009 [get engaged]
October 2009 [get married]
We designed the ring at a local place, so I knew what it was supposed to look like. I'm a little of a control freak so I couldn't even imagine wearing something every day for the rest of my life without having any say in it. I didn't really know what I wanted but I knew I wanted a triangular diamond & I wanted it to be decent sized [after all...I only get one!]
I knew the proposal was coming but didn't even know if the ring was done yet. There were a few times between New Years Eve & Valentine's Day I thought he may 'pop the question' but he never did...
Monday he asked me to go to dinner on Friday night and I was excited to try a new steakhouse so I said yes. Tuesday he told me we were actually going to go to the Marriott Downtown because he told the chef [a client of his] that we would try his new menu. To say I wasn't thrilled was a huge understatement! The week goes on and I'm dragging my feet...trying to think of any excuse not to go. Friday [January 18th] I call all of our friends to go with us...all busy on last notice. I call my mom when leaving work [early afternoon] and she tells I should probably just go home and get a little nap in because I sound grumpy and no very thankful for a night out with my boyfriend. I moan & groan and hang up. I get home and take a nap [with our new puppy Murdock!]
Adam gets home and forces me to get up and go to out 7pm dinner reservation. I change my shirt and head out the door with him [no shower...no makeup!]. We get to the hotel downtown and go to the restaurant for our reservation and head to the back room. I walk in first and see 30+ family members waiting for us. [My family drove over 2 hours and his about an hour to get to Des Moines and meet us on a Friday night...I was NOT expecting it this night!] It hit me I was going to get engaged...and I start to get embarrassed & nervous!
We walk to the back...he gets down on one knee and tells me he wants to spend the rest of his life with me and pops the question. I started hugging him & checking out my ring...he reminds me I never really answered the question [whoops!] :)
Then Adam got us all dinner and drinks. And later he and I went to my favorite place...the Grand Piano Bistro for drinks and he got on stage and sang me 'I'm Yours' by Jason Mraz. I felt soo special! He did good!
Here are a few photos...

Me being nervous...walking in. Apparently when we asked for our reservation the waitress said 'Party of 30' and I totally missed it! :) My Family
