Cullyn {8 Months}

Happy 8 Months Baby Boy!

We hoped the getting tubes would help the sleep situation, but unfortunately you still wake 2-5 times a night.  You just aren’t a good sleeper.  Sometimes we can pat your bottom or rock you back to sleep, other times we feed you 1-8 ounces.  You’re just so unpredictable.  I’m trying really hard to cherish these snuggly moments because I know they’ll be gone soon.

You eat about four, eight-ounce bottles throughout the day.  Unfortunately you don’t eat the full bottle in one sitting, you kind of graze all day.  :/  We tried baby food, but you just don’t seem very interested, so we are trying the Baby Led Weaning approach.  We dice things up real small, and you feed yourself.  You’ve had avacados, puffs, peaches, pears, fruit bars, green beans, pees, and cheerios.

You're in size 3 diapers, size 6 month onesies, and 6 or 6-9 month clothes.    You weigh about 17 pounds.

You’re pulling yourself up and crawling to everything now.  You can no longer be trusted by stairs or the dog food bowls!  Anything you find on the floor goes directly into your mouth.  You love to eat paper! :)

Three more teeth {on the top} broke through this month.  And the bottom two are fully in now.  You are constantly teething.

More firsts…you got tubes and your ears have been perfect since.  You celebrated your first Thanksgiving and lots of pre-Christmas celebrations!

Love you so much Cully!!

5 things that are totally stressing me out right now!

1.  I have so.many.things to post about!  Jordyn's 2nd Birthday, Tubes {again}, the Gym, Thanksgiving, Photoshoots {all kinds of them!}...

2.  Cullyn was up seven{!!} times last night.  Ugh!  Between ear infections and teething, I may never sleep again!  :/  I was off {real} work for 5 days and am so, so behind!  Plus it looks like a bomb went off in my house.  Specifically the kitchen, and laundry room. Not enough time...ever!

3.  The number of Pre-Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, & Cyber Monday emails I received is just ridiculous!  My email is filled & I don't even know where to start.

4.  Photography will slow down after this week, but right now I'm just plain EXHAUSTED! {see #2}  I have mini sessions scheduled for Friday.  They're 45 minutes North and I have zero of the three 'props' prepared. :/ I haven't even ordered Christmas cards yet!  {I usually mail them on December 1!!)

5.  Adam hung the Christmas lights outside the lakehouse this weekend, but other than that...nothing is decorated.  I wish was all Yay, it's Christmas!  Lights, music, wrapped presents! like everyone else on IG and FB.  But if I'm being totally honest, I'm too exhausted to care.  I have 90% of the shopping {0% of the wrapping} done for my kids and nieces and nephews.  And could really careless about getting gifts from parents right now-I don't even have the time {or energy} to give them a list.  Money is tight right now, and I almost wish we just eliminated gifts for anyone over 18. period.  No $10 or $20 {useless!} grab bag gifts, gifts to bosses or teachers.

Bah humbug, I know!

Weekend with Great Grandparents

We had a 'great' weekend!  For the first time all year [yes, 11 months] we had an open weekend.  So what did we decide to do?  Drive to my hometown to spend the weekend with my family.  We arrived 7ish Friday night.  After we settled in we played games.

Saturday morning we got up and went to my Grandma Laura's house.  This was the 1st time Jordyn was at her Great Greandma's house [and only her 3rd time seeing her].  We chatted there all morning and had pizza.

That afternoon we went to my other grandparent's house.  This was Adam's first time seeing their home [we always meet at a resturant or my aunt's house].  We spent the afternoon there.  Thankfully my aunt brought a pack-n-play for us because we forgot one...FAIL!

Sunday was spent playing games and hanging out at my parents house.  It worked out perfect to spend some time with my grandparents.  It's so easy to get busy with your own lives and forget to make time for your distand loved ones.  Since they're all 70+ this meant a lot to me.  Plus it was nice to see my Grandma Jordan now that she's home and recovering from her knee replacement surgery.

*Jordyn also got her first molar's this weekend [teeth #9 & 10]
**I fully regret my lazy decision to pull my hair back into a pony tail on this morning.  Since we probably won't get retakes of these photos for another year, I really, really regret that decision!  :(

[Baby Gear:Teething]

If you're not expecting...you'll probably want to skip this post. But I've had a lot of people ask me what we love, what we got but never use, etc. So here's the obligatory 'new mama blogger' series! :)

[See Baby Gear:Basics and Baby Gear:Newborn for the beginning of this series]
We're in the heart of teething right now, so this is hot off the press.
Top 5 things to have on hand during teething...
[Amber Necklace] I know it's hard to believe, but I think this purchase has helped her the most.  It's a natural way to help with nasty teething side effects [runny nose, pain, etc.]
[Sophie the Giraffe] SO annoying [nobody told me there are 55468249 squeakers in this toy before I purchased it] but it really is nice.  Plus, when they're not teething they can still use it as an annoying little toy!
[Cold Packs] These are probably the most common thing I see people use.  We have like 5 different shape/sized ones and she likes them.  They're so cold they help with swelling and pain, but she can't won't hold them herself, so they're not the most convenient!
[Teething Tablets] I was reluctant to give these to her at first, but lots of friend recommended them.  I feel like they're instant relief for her.  She usually falls right asleep after she gets one.  Very handy, lots come in the bottle and they're [relatively] cheap.
[Teething Liquid] They're pretty much the same as the teething tablets above, except they're liquid.  you can give these more frequently, but they're more expensive too.

Any other tricks you've used for teething?

Jordyn Lynn [5 Months]

Happy 5 Months Baby Girl!!

You changed so much this month!  You love to play with your feet, sit in your excersaucer and roll over.  At 4 1/2 months you started rolling from back to stomach and now you do it all the time!  You still haven't rolled tummy to back, which surprises us since you dislike tummy time so much.  And probably the most exciting thing this month, your first 2 [bottom] teeth popped through this month!  You've handled teething very well so far.  You're drooling more and your stools are more frequent/loose but overall you're still a very happy baby.  You do have an Amber Teething Necklace which I think has helped.  You also like your Sophia the Giraffe Teether.  Along with teething [& drooling!] you blow bubbles, make fishy lips, and rub your tongue over your gums all the time!  It's adorable! We also celebrated your first St. Patrick's Day!

We guess you are about 25 in. tall  and weigh about 16 pounds now, but wont know for sure until your 6 month appointment. You transitioned to 3-6 month clothing and size 2 diapers this month.

Your feeding and sleeping schedule haven't really changed this month.  You still take a morning, afternoon and evening nap and sleep from 8p to 8a with 8oz. bottles at 4a, 8a, noon, 4p, and 8p.  You still haven't tried food, but we'll probably start introducing that no that you're 5 months.

It's hard to believe next month we'll be celebrating your 1/2 birthday already!!
Love you to the moon & back,
Mama and Daddy
