Tape Des Moines at the Art Center

Last week I took the kids to the Des Moines Art Center to check out the exhibit 'Tape Des Moines' before it leaves {January 21st!}  It's made completely of clear packing tape and you {kids & adults!} can actually crawl through it.  We all had so much fun!  We're members, but it's free for anyone {always}, so I would highly recommend going!  While we were there we also checked out a couple of the other 'tape' exhibits.  There are currently 4 different pieces created by 4 different artists.  You can only crawl through one, but they were all great!  I love when art is fun for kids.  When you're done, stop by there unique gift shop--they always have the coolest things!

Kaleidoscope | Kansas City

Saturday it sprinkled most of the day, so we were happy to have indoor plans.  We walked the hotel skywalk over to Crown Center and got free tickets for the Kaleidoscope later that afternoon.  If you haven't been to the Kaleidoscope in Kansas City before, it's pretty neat.  They've decorated this space with really fun, creative centers and use leftover Hallmark {greeting cards} supplies to let the kids create.  It's totally free and fun for kids of most ages.  We stayed all hour and could have used another one {tickets are only good for 1 hour at a time}.

Art Class | Jordyn

Jordyn just finished an 8 week art class through the our city {much like her cooking class}.  It was convenient being just across town instead of downtown Des Moines, but I will say, the projects were much like you do in elementary art class.  They did 2-3 quick projects a night where as the Des Moines Art Center does one nicer project each week.  I'm glad we tried it, she really enjoyed it, but we probably sign up again.
