Glasses

This post is so delayed, we've actually had to replace both pairs by now, but on St. Patrick's Day both kids got glasses.  They'd be seeming the eye doctor regularly since 6 months of age {family history with a few things} so we knew it was coming for a while, but we didn't have any idea how adorable they would be!  I can't even imagine the kids without their glasses now -- they're unrecognizable when they aren't wearing their glasses {bathtub, sleeping, etc.}. Jordyn picked out a little purple pair and Cullyn a blue pair with a strap around the back to help keep them on.  

Cullyn is better about keeping them on -- actually requests to wear them if we forget, but not so much Jordyn. She's okay, but definitely enjoys taking them off {what can I say, I'm the same way!}. Much to our surprise, Jordyn's were the first to need repaired.  On day 91 {of a 90 day warranty} the daycare dog ate them during rest time.  That's when we decided to get them fixed, but to also get each of the kids a second pair as a back up.  {Jordyn chose a 2nd purple pair and Cullyn got the same pair in green}.  I'm glad we did because less than 2 weeks after getting Jordyn's original pair back, Lola chewed on the lenses of Cullyn's green pair.  #ItsOnlyTheBeginning

Picnic at Jasper | 2016

Until this year, we've always taken advantage of Jasper Winery's summer concert series.  Each Thursday night they have live music of some sort in their courtyard.  It's always a great time.  The music, the food vendors, and their famous sangria with a blanket, some friends, and your favorite snacks.  

As the kids get bigger and our schedules get crazier, our weekly Jasper night has been cut from the schedule.  However, I couldn't go the entire summer without making it down there, so last Thursday when Adam was upgrading the sound system in our Jeep with a friend at the lake, I packed a picnic dinner and took the kids to listen to the dueling guitars after tumbling.  It was supposed to storm, so it was a little less crazy than normal {yay!} Unfortunately, for the second time this summer, I forgot our picnic blanket!  This time, it made it to the car, but I managed to forget to grab it!  If I were with other people I would have ran back to grab it, but the thought of slooooowly walking all.the.way back to the car with lawn chairs, a picnic basket, and both kids made me decide to suck it up and sit on the ground. 

So good!  Get yourself some!

I learned that my kids are not fans of coconut water! ;)

Cullyn | This boy is so funny.  He was mad that I enrolled J in swimming lessons {& not him.  I tried to enroll him, but they told me to wait until he's 3 per the Iowa Heart Association} so I called and got him in.  He refused to get in the pool until the last 5 minutes of class.  So I tell him he can't go back.  He cries, whines, and totally works me over so I give in and sign him up again.  This class he totally refused to get in and kept telling me he didn't want to swim with 'that guy' {the lifegaurd}. And then this weekend?  He swam like a fish and is actually a really great swimmer {for a 3 year old!}.  When racing with their lifejackets on, he beat Jordyn every time. And he doesn't mind going under water at all.  It's a good thing this boy is cute because he sure keeps me on my toes!  He was also unsure about tubing until I made him go with me and then wanted to tube all day.  

Jordyn | Jordyn is loving swimming lessons with Lexi.  They're really connected and she is doing amazing!  She swims with a little help, or swims by herself with a noodle, a paddleboard, or her lifejacket.  She's obsessed with goggles now. :)  Submerging her head in water still isn't her thing.  She went tubing for the first time {multiple times} this weekend and never wanted to stop. Going town the slide was her favorite part though!

Cullyn | He had his first taste of Sprite and is pretty unsure about it.  ;)

Cullyn | He is constantly begging to go higher {my little dare devil!}.  On this night, Jordyn was pushing him and it was the sweetest sight ever!  

Jordyn | I wish I had taken a photo of her on the swings, because that is by far her favorite part of going to a park.  Also...I can't keep shoes on this girl for anything!
