Book a dinner with friends, maybe in an igloo? Require sparkles! Bonus if you can rent a limo or book a hotel room for some after hours fun!
Invite friends over for a fun dinner {personal pizzas, surf & turf, sushi, or fondue are always fun} followed by games {cards are great for conversation or dominos which is easier if you're playing with kids} in your jammies. Plan a champagne toast for midnight {or 11 for us CST people}
For little kids, I recommend celebrating NOON Year's Eve. We did that for several years when the kids were young and it was perfect {for everyone!} Each hour we did a fun activity -- glowsticks in the bath, silly string, bubbles, milk & cookie toast at noon, etc.
For bigger kids, I can't recommend this enough -- book a hotel with a fun pool, order a pizza, & call it a night. If you remember, last year I had an extravagant night planned {dinner reservations at a new restaurant, limo to take us to see lights, etc.} and the kids begged me to cancel it and let them order Papa Johns and swim. #LessonLearned
Whatever you decide, I hope you're able to celebrate the year with a few of your favorites!
