For the past few Februaries, I've challenged myself to a February Freeze. What is it? Well it's pretty much what it sounds like -- I try to freeze as much spending as possible. Basically I cut out all of my 'just because' shopping. It's a good little reset after the holidays.
For 28 days I only spend money on necessities.
To prepare, I lay out my 'rules' ahead of time. Allowed purchases {for me} are groceries, gas, and birthday party gifts if need be. This year I also know I'm going to be spending money on dinner with my family on Valentine's Day, a double date with friends another Friday evening, taking the kids to Des Moines for Presidents Day, and a quick trip to IKEA with my mama.
What I'm not spending money on in February... clothes, makeup, hair products, random Target/Amazon/Nordstrom purchases, new home decor, office supplies, etc. I'm also not spending money on fast food for my children that think they're starving any time we drive by a McDonalds. ;)
Let me know if you decide to join along on the challenge this year.
I would love to hear how it goes!
