Let's Look | Holiday Decor Storage

Here we go -- our holiday décor storage.  It isn't pretty, but it works.
We store all of our holiday decorations in totes, in a room in the garage.

A couple things, because I get questions on our garage often -- I feel super blessed to have this area to stick everything, but yes, we have to move cars out and the ladder anytime we want to access these rooms {I have a dream to someday get two big rolling ladders, but this works for now}.  If you're building a house, I would encourage you to look into this option for tax purposes -- since it's technically garage space, and not living space, this area isn't included in the 'finished' footage of the house.

Okay, back to holiday décor.  I just climb up this ladder, and haul totes up/down.  It's not really a huge deal {good workout, doesn't take too long}.  I then use the elevator to take them up to the 3rd floor.  In all honesty, I can't imagine hauling all of the bins up to the 3rd floor.  THAT would be a real workout!

The back half of this room houses childhood keepsakes from Adam and I.  The front half is holiday.  I TRY to get all clear totes so I can see what's in them, but I have a few solid colored ones.  I use red/green for Christmas.  Clear/white for Valentine's day, Easter, New Year's, etc.  The big blue ones have greenery in them {I just had them on hand from moving}.  I got a bunch of ornament containers, which keep the ornaments secure, but they do take a lot of space! :(  I also keep the fake Christmas trees up here so I don't have to take them apart every year.

There you have it -- our mess for the internet to see! :)
