Carefree, Arizona

I hope you love photos...

We're traveling home from an unbelievable trip to Carefree, Arizona {20 minutes North of Scottsdale} with 8 of our friends.  On Wednesday after work, 6 of us packed into the minivan and drove to Kansas City to catch our 5:45a flight to Phoenix.

The home {owned by our friends} was absolutely amazing!  It's in a beautiful gated community with 6 golf courses.  The infinity pool and hot tub at the house were wonderful, but the view overlooking everything is just breathtaking!

On the first day, we enjoyed breakfast and a mimosa and bloody mary bar.  We went directly into the pool since it was sunny and perfect weather.  We got out long enough to enjoy lunch at El Encanto.  Afterwards we headed right back to the pool for the rest of the afternoon.  That evening we grilled burgers and brats and spent the evening laughing around a fire.  There were card games, bets, swimming competitions, and drone spottings.  :)

Friday morning Adam and I got up and took Bailey, the dog, out for a nice long walk around Desert Mountain, the huge gated community we're staying in.  We came back and soaked up the sun before heading to lunch at one of the beautiful clubhouses on the property.  I spent the afternoon sleeping on a lounger in the pool and getting some sun.  Most of the rest of the group spent the afternoon working on their lifts.  :)  That night we put on our cowboy boots and headed into Cave Creek to enjoyed barbecue  and bull riding followed by dancing to a live band at Buffalo Chip Saloon & Steakhouse.  From there, we went to Hogs & Horses where I danced with the champion bull rider for the night {no big!} ;)

Saturday I woke up early for a run around a different area of the complex.  A few people went golfing that morning, but the rest of us went to Harold's for brunch.  The weather was amazing, so we ended up  calling the rest of the group to join us to go bar hopping {day drinking} around Cave Creek.  Later that afternoon we went back to the house to swim for the afternoon and watch the sun go down.  That evening we had reservations to go to a restaurant at one of the clubhouses on the property.  Unfortunately Adam wasn't feeling well, so we opted to stay in and send the rest of the group ahead.

Sunday, our last day in Arizona, we had breakfast and then Gen and I took the Mercedes convertible up to Desert Mountain Trail to go hiking.  After our hike, we went back to the house to relax a bit -- the boys watched the Masters and us girls swam and relaxed outside {I read}.  After that we packed up and headed to Oreganos for a pizza lunch.  The plan was for the girls to head to Scottsdale to shop while the boys took the other car to a sport bar to hangout before out 7p flights back home.  Unfortunately, Adam still wasn't feeling 100%, so we made he decision to have him checked out before getting on the plane for 3 hours.  We went to an urgent care where is was evaluated and sent to the emergency room up the road.  During our overnight hour stay there, we missed our flight, but sent the other 8 people in our group ahead.  I'll go into Adam's hospital stay in another post, but we're finally {24 hours later} on a{n expensive!} flight back to Kansas City, where we'll land around midnight and rent a car to drive back to Des Moines.
