TCI | Turks & Caicos Islands 2016

Last week we traveled to the Turks & Caicos Islands to spend 5 days & 4 nights relaxing and having fun in the sunshine!  I am so proud of my husband for being a top performer in 2015 and working for a great company where the owner feels the importance of taking care of his employees.

If I'm being totally honest, I wasn't sure how I felt about taking a vacation with coworkers.  I mean, they're nice people, but I didn't know many of them well and vacationing with others can be challenging.  However, from the moment we stepped on the first plane, the conversations became effortless.

Over our 4 nights and 5 days, we had a private welcome dinner, cocktails during sunset, a cruise to Iguana Island complete with a dj, and a group dinner at the hibachi restaurant where we all sang our hearts out.  I'll never forget our first afternoon on the beach with abnormally rough seas, watching the guys play water polo, and the many games of volleyball.  And there will of course always be the memories of the little things like 'stealing' a cabana, getting locked out of the scooter rental place, ordering 19 pizzas as an afternoon snack, sliding off the back of the boat, hearing about Adam getting hauled home in a kiddie cart, and so much more.

The resort itself was a new experience for us.  It had 4 different villages {Key West, French, Italian, & Caribbean}, over 20 bars and restaurants, a waterpark, a kids camp, a teen club, an xBox lounge, a lazy river, 2 spas, 6 pools, 4 hottubs, 5 swim up bars, and so much more!  While we really enjoyed this resort, we're glad we were with a large group of people, because we prefer smaller resorts {300 rooms or less}.

Would I go back? No.  But mainly because I don't like to go anywhere more than once.  There are tons of places I want travel to, so I always want to go somewhere new!  Although the waters were rough {red flag} the entire trip {which is not normal}, I have never seen more turquoise water anywhere!  Breathtaking views for sure!

Would TCI recommend it to others? Yes, if relaxation is your thing!  TCI doesn't have a lot of excursions {hiking, ziplining, etc}, so you're pretty much tied to the resort.  If that is your thing, I would highly recommend it.  As you would probably expect, there is a lot of poverty once you leave the resort property.  We saw a lot of trash, abandoned buildings, and patched homes.  Since we went to a large resort {Beaches} there were many activities on site {snorkeling, scuba diving, parasailing, paddle boarding, catamarans, etc.}  It doesn't take long to get there to TCI either. {2 short flights for us--a 2 hr one followed by a 3 hr one}

And now, the photos...

PS…I've never struggled to get back into the groove of reality as much as I am this week.  Post-vacation blue is running in full force!  Perhaps we should start planning our next getaway! ;)
